Top Restaurants Second Year in a Row

by Zagat Survey as "superb" California Cuisine

LA JOLLA, California (November 2007) - As the year comes to a close, The Lodge at Torrey Pines® celebrates an impressive array of prestigious awards that affirm its position among the world's premier luxury resort destinations, including its second year on the Zagat Survey's list of America's Top Restaurants in the San Diego region.

The 2008 Zagat Survey of America's Top Restaurants listed the A. R. Valentien restaurant in its annual guide with the restaurant scoring "high marks" among the top five restaurants in the San Diego region, unwavering from its position in the 2007 Zagat Survey. The restaurant was praised as a "great getaway" with "superb" Californian cuisine and service that is "attentive from the moment you drive up."

At the helm in the kitchen are Executive Chef Jeff Jackson and Chef de Cuisine Tim Kolanko. Jackson's menu draws inspiration from the best local provisions available each season and changes daily depending on products offered at local farmers' markets, and from other local growers, ranchers and fishermen. Jackson places emphasis on basic ingredients, and prepares food with minimal handling, and in simple combinations to highlight the textures and flavors inherent to each element.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines® is a tribute to the California Craftsman Movement and is modeled after Greene & Greene's famed Gamble and Blacker houses in Pasadena, California, two of the finest examples of early 1900s Craftsman-style architecture.
