La Jolla is a shopper's paradise. The charming streets of this sophisticated seaside village offer dozens of one-of-a-kind boutiques and galleries with distinctive apparel, accessories, home decor, and gifts. Browse the delightful shops, pause at a sidewalk cafe or gourmet restaurant, and enjoy the incomparably beautiful views of the La Jolla cliffs and the Pacific.

Dining in La Jolla is a richly varied experience that invites visitors to enjoy this sophisticated but casual coastal community to the fullest. Individual neighborhoods teem with exciting restaurants, from cozy bistros in the La Jolla Shores district, to extravagant, night-on-the-town eateries on Prospect Street, the dining-and-entertainment thoroughfare in the heart of the downtown area that locals call "the village".

Del Mar Race Track

Del Mar race track

Just a solid chip shot from the Pacific Ocean, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club opened its gates back in 1937. The man at the turnstile collecting tickets that day was none other than the original laid-back Californian himself, Bing Crosby. Bing and a bunch of his Hollywood buddies hatched this marvelous idea for a horse palace by the ocean where you could play all day, party all night and leave cares of the world behind. That spirit remains today.
